ARPA-E

1 report
The Advanced Research Projects Agency–Energy funds early-stage, high-impact energy technologies within the U.S. Department of Energy. Its programs support research teams pursuing advances in generation, storage, efficiency, grids, fuels, and industrial systems that may be too uncertain for conventional investment.

The main lines of inquiry around ARPA-E include high-risk energy research and early-stage technology programs, with separate attention to milestone-based funding. Interpretation of early-stage technology programs depends on the agreement between project milestones and prototype measurements; the evidence is read with the caveat that promising laboratory results may not survive scale-up, cost, or durability constraints.
