Ethics Policy
Read the ethical standards covering accuracy, fairness, conflicts, source treatment, sensitive subjects, independence and responsible publication.
Science Report’s ethics standards cover evidence, fairness, source treatment, conflicts of interest, commercial relationships, sensitive subjects and corrections across its science coverage. The policy below explains the editorial expectations that apply in each of these areas.
Independence
Editorial decisions are made independently. Advertisers and commercial partners do not control topic selection, evidence, criticism, corrections or independent conclusions, and contributors must not promise positive coverage in exchange for payment, access or another benefit.
Accuracy and Context
Material facts should be checked against reliable sources. Headlines should reflect the article rather than overstate novelty, certainty or risk. Statistics, dates, names and quotations should be verified, and uncertainty should be stated when information is incomplete or the evidence supports more than one interpretation.
Fairness
Science Report avoids misrepresenting sources, omitting material context or causing unnecessary harm. Serious factual allegations require appropriate evidence, proportionate language and, where relevant, consideration of a response without allowing unsupported denial to replace the evidence.
Conflicts of Interest
Authors and editors should disclose relevant financial, commercial, professional, institutional or personal conflicts where they could affect reader understanding. Gifts, samples, access or compensation must not determine editorial conclusions, favorable wording or omission of justified criticism.
Sourcing
Named sources are preferred. When an unnamed source is necessary, editorial leadership should assess the reason for anonymity, the source’s access to the information, relevant conflicts and whether material claims can be corroborated.
Advertising and Rankings
Google AdSense advertising is separated from editorial work. Science Report does not currently publish sponsored articles or use affiliate links.
Paid visibility does not determine editorial ranking position.
Sensitive Topics
Content that may affect health, legal, financial, safety or major life decisions is handled with additional caution, including attention to uncertainty, population limits and the difference between general information and an individual recommendation. It should not be treated as personalized professional advice. Science Report does not publish guaranteed outcomes, unsupported medical claims or individualized diagnosis and treatment instructions.
Images, Data and AI
Images, charts and data should represent the underlying subject accurately and should not conceal scale, uncertainty or material context. AI-assisted tools may be used for selected illustrations but must not fabricate facts, quotations, people, events or credentials or be presented as documentary evidence.
Corrections
Factual errors supported by reliable evidence are corrected or clarified according to the nature of the problem and the available evidence. Report concerns to corrections@science.report with the article URL and supporting information.
