Archaeologists have analyzed a 3,000-year-old gold headdress from Central Europe, uncovering evidence that its intricate motifs encode calendrical information used to track solar and lunar cycles

The lack of secure archaeological provenance for the Berlin gold hat limits the certainty of its cultural and chronological context. While typological comparison with other gold hats supports a date between 1000 and 800 BCE, the absence of stratigraphic or associated material evidence means that some aspects of its use and significance remain open to interpretation.
